Women Might Take Over PM Modi’s Social Media Accounts – Reports

If you have not been living under the rock, you must be aware that PM Modi on Monday created a buzz after he tweeted that he is thinking of giving up social media on Sunday. While many are still wondering what PM Modi is thinking, a report by Livemint states that PM Modi’s social media might be taken over by women for the day i.e. 8th March as it also coincides with International Women’s Day.

PM Modi with, 53.3 million followers on Twitter, 44 million on Facebook, 35.2 million on Instagram and 4.5 million on YouTube, had on Monday tweeted that he is “thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube”, He didn’t reveal anything much and promised to keep the people updated.

Minutes after his tweet, hashtags like #nosir, #IWillAlsoLeaveTwitter and #ModiQuitsSocialMedia began trending on Twitter.

Also, the fact that PM Modi has always boosted the idea of digital India doesn’t sit well with him giving up social media. It would only set a bad example for the citizens.

For the unaware, since PM Modi came to power in 2014, he hasn’t addressed even a single press conference. The leader has used his social media to interact with the people ever since. He is currently the second most followed politician on Facebook only behind former US President Barack Obama.

The PM tweeted that he would give his account to women whose life & work inspire us. He kicked in # SheInspiresUs campaign to invite stories of such women from the masses.

PM tweeted, that he would give his social media accounts to such women on the occasion of ‘International Women’s Day’ on 8th March. The PM believes that this will help them ignite motivation in millions.
