In a terrifying incident, a 27 years old veterinary doctor from Hyderabad Priyanka Reddy was sexually assaulted and killed by unknown persons. Her body was found on Thursday by the city police on Hyderabad-Bengaluru national highway.

The culprits raped her and then set her on fire to kill. Priyanka was abducted by unknown persons near the Shadnagar area of Hyderabad late on Wednesday. While returning home from work on Wednesday Priyanka found that the tyre of her scooter was flat and she needs to get it fixed.

Since then she went missing and her dead body was discovered on Thursday. A local milk vendor first saw Priyanka’s dead body and informed the Sarpanch of the village who further called the police. Cyberabad Police believes that there are two persons involved in performing this heinous crime.

The early police investigation hints that she was raped between Shamshabad and Chatanpally before being set ablaze. A call recording is submitted by Priyanka’s sister which reveals that she was panicked seeing the suspicious movements of lorry drivers and strangers approaching her offering help to repair her scooter.

The incident has attracted public ire with Twitter being flooded with messages expressing condolence to the family and demanding quick nabbing of the culprits. Twitter woke up on Friday with #RIPPriyankaReddy trending.

Incidents like this and the Nirbhaya highlight the fact that India is becoming a dangerous place for women with sexual predators waiting for an opportunity. While many cases are seen occurring in the big cities many in the rural and outskirts area go unregistered.
