If you are also a Yellow Ration Card holder, then I suggest you read this article until the end as the Haryana Government is offering something huge in the last month of the year 2022. Manohar Lal Khattar has made some changes in the eligibility and ration dispensing criteria for the Yellow Ration Card Holders which means immense benefits for all the Below Poverty Line families.
In all these benefits given to Yellow Ration Card Holders, the Government of India provides 5 kg of free wheat to 80 crore people in a month under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. In addition to this, the State Government ensures to provide specific benefits to the Yellow Ration Card Holders of its state.
If we specifically talk about Haryana, they used to have 11.50 lakh BPL families which has been increased to 28.93 Lakh. It happened as the Haryana Government raised the minimum annual family income from 1.20 Lakh to 1.80 Lakh. This revised income status increased the number of BPL families in the state who will be able to get the benefits offered to the Yellow Ration Card Holders.
The good part is the PMGKY, Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojana which enabled such families to get wheat at a throwaway price of Rs. 2. Under this scheme, Antyodaya families could get 35 kg of wheat at the said rate whereas the BPL families can get up to 5 kg of wheat.
During the pandemic caused by COVID-19, the Centre Government started this scheme to provide inexpensive wheat to families with Yellow Ration Cards in September. It was supposed to run until December 2022 which makes this month the last one when people under BPL will be able to avail the benefits of the scheme.
