I don’t know about you, but I am so exhausted from the year 2020 already. From Bushfires to coronavirus, a lot has happened in the past four months that has drained most of us and all we need right now is positivity and positive things to happen in our vicinity.
And thankfully, one such positive and extraordinary thing is all set to happen that might help us forget the woes we are in right now. At least for a moment or so.
The extraordinary thing is the occurrence of the year’s largest super moon. On April 7, that is on Tuesday, the world will get to witness the biggest moon of the year, which also known as the pink super moon.
For the unknown, the super moon is a term for an occurrence when the moon is closest to the earth making it look larger than ever. So head out to your balconies at 8:30 PM with your camera on Tuesday to capture those clear and better images of the moon.
What is Super Moon?
The phenomenon will occur as the moon’s closest point – the perigee – will come very close to the Earth. So close that the moon will be 14 per cent larger and 30 time per cent brighter than the usual full moons.
However, though named the Pink Super Moon, the moon is not actually pink. It gets the name part as a reference to a type of wildflower native to North America called ‘Phlox subulata,’ which has a bright pink hue and is an indicator that spring has commenced, according to a report in Newsweek.

The term super moon, however, was coined by astrologer Richard Nolle in the year 1979.
