The lockdown imposed across the country may have had hit the economy, our lives and much more but to nature, the lockdown is giving it all the time to breathe. The cities are breathing fresher air, there is hardly any traffic or smoke oozing out of the factories.
The effect? The country’s, and especially Punjab’s, environmental health is getting better. Punjab has imposed an 11-day curfew in the state and because of that, the air quality there has improved. So improved that now people can even see the snow-clad mountains that are approx 200-km afar.
People in Jalandhar woke to a view of, what reports say, to be Dhauldhar range. This range of mountains lies in Kangra, a district in Punjab’s adjoining state of Himachal Pradesh.

The residents in Punjab were excited to see the mountain range for the first time this clear. Residents of Hoshiarpur even clicked pictures of the mountains and posted them across social media platforms.
Harpal Kler, a resident of Jalandhar, said, “As I set out from home early this morning and started on Pathankot highway, I could see the entire range of snow-covered mountains in front of me. It gave me such a nice break from the otherwise monotonous routine these days.”
