Days after Myntra announced a tweak in their logo, now, another e-Commerce giant, Amazon, has sneakily rolled out a small change in its mobile app icon after users pointed out the old logo shared similarities with Adolf Hitler.
Amazon, for the unaware, back in January 2021 had redesgined their logo to replace it with the age-old shopping cart one. Their new logo now shows a brown box with a jagged piece of blue tape stripping down, right above the company’s iconic smile-shaped arrow.
However, as the new logo was released, it went viral as people pointed out that the jagged stripe in the logo looks more like Nazi leader, Hitler’s toothbrush moustache. The trend surely made it to the eyes of Amazon and it was then the company decided to come up with a new logo with an official announcement.
The new logo has adhesive tape, which has been opened and folded from a corner.
“Amazon is always exploring new ways to delight our customers. We designed the new icon to spark anticipation, excitement, and joy when customers start their shopping journey on their phone, just as they do when they see our boxes on their doorstep,” said an Amazon spokesperson, reports The Verge.
Earlier, the shopping app Myntra had also decided to change their logo after a woman complained that the old logo of the app looked like a woman is spreading her legs, which the complainer termed as offensive.
