After Trains, Special Flights To Ferry Indians From Abroad

After special trains for migrant workers, the government is set to bring citizens who are stranded abroad. The government would operate special flights in line with the special trains for a week to ferry the Indian nationals home. As per civil aviation ministry, it would run a total of 64 flights include. These flights would be to following destinations:

  • UAE- 10 flights
  • Qatar- 2 flights
  • Saudi Arabia- 5 flights
  • UK- 7 flights
  • Singapore- 5 flights
  • United States-7 flights
  • Philippines- 5 flights
  • Bangladesh- 7 flights
  • Bahrain – 2 flights
  • Malaysia-7 flights
  • Kuwait-5 flights
  • Oman-2 flights

The flights would operate from May 7th to May 13th said Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Registration for those who want to come has already begun with the help of respective embassies. One thing that should be noted is that this would not be free flights. Those who want to come would have to pay the charges for the flight and food.

Before coming the immigrants would have to get the COVID-19 certificate. Even if they test negative they would be under 14-day quarantine after coming to India. After this, their test would be conducted to ensure that they are virus-free.

Considering state-wise the maximum number of flights(15) will be sent from Kerala, 11 each for Delhi-NCR and Tamil Nadu, seven for Maharashtra and Telangana, five for Gujarat, three each for Jammu and Kashmir and Karnataka and one each for Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
