Indian Railways has good news for passengers as it has decided to withdraw Covid restriction on supply of bed roll and linen. AC coaches will also have curtains again that were also removed in the sight of infection spread through unhygienic curtains.
The order was issued on March 10 Thursday to resume providing blankets, linens and curtains inside train coaches. The order has been issued to all general managers of respective zones. In 2020, after railway services were resumed after months of halt protocol of provided services was changed. The Standard Operating Protocol for movement of passengers by train was released by Indian Railways.
The order read, “No linen, blankets and curtains shall be provided inside the train”. This notification has come after two years of no blankets and linens service in all AC train coaches in the country. You will no longer need to carry an extra bag for blankets on your long journeys. But remember you need to select the option for Linen and Blanket Service at the time of ticket booking.

Meals and linen service might have resumed but still you cannot get concessions for certain passengers like you used to get. Earlier Senior Citizens used to get concessions while traveling in Indian Railways and the service was discontinued two years back due to Covid-19.
Apart from this it has become easy to book group tickets where you have to book one or multiple coaches due to weddings or other functions. You just need to go to nearest railway station and book it but you need to pay 30% extra money on every ticket which will be returned post journey as security money. If you are booking complete train then you need to deposit a fixed amount that will also be returned after the journey. Please note that GST and Service Tax will not be returned over the amount.
