Alia Bhatt is all set to play the lead role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. The movie is based on the life of famous and influential prostitute of the 1960s Gangubai.

Alia Tweeted about the movie-making her involvement in the film official. Earlier trade analyst Taran Adarsh also share the news. The movie is set to release on September 11 next year.

Announcement of Gangubai Kathiawadi comes after Bhansali’s Inshallah starring Salman Khan was stalled when the actor parted away from the project.
No news about the “male lead” of the movie was made but it is expected that Alia’s beau Ranbir Kapoor would be roped in for the role. Meanwhile, Alia in an interview said that she would be collaborating with Bhansali for another movie as well.
