Canara Bank Becomes First to Allow Credit Card UPI Payments

Canara Bank has now become the first, as a public sector bank, to allow Rupay Credit Card payments through UPI to the merchants.

“Canara Bank has introduced the facility of UPI payments to Merchants through RuPay Credit Card. This facility is made available in the popular ‘Canara ai1’ Banking Super App of the Bank. Canara Bank is the first Public Sector Bank to introduce this Facility in association with NPCI,” said the bank in a recent statement.

Canara Now Offers Credit Card Payments Via UPI

With the recent developments now the Canara Bank customers will be able to make UPI payments through Rupay credit cards. So, the customers can now link their Rupay Credit Card to their UPI IDs.

“This seamless, safe and secure digital payment method allows customers to make credit card transactions with utmost ease,” said the bank.

K. Satyanarayana Raju, MD and CEO of Canara Bank said commenting about the new facility, “The procedure for linking the credit card is similar to the existing account linking procedure, and customers can select Canara Credit Card during account listing for linking.”

The UPI transaction limit set for the existing payments shall be continued for Rupay Credit Card also, said Raju.

Moreover, the banks also conveyed that this will enhance the potential of UPI payments further.

Dilip Asbe, MD & CEO of NPCI said, “The integration of RuPay Credit Card on UPI delivers a remarkable user experience seamlessly combining the convenience of UPI with the benefits of RuPay Credit Card.”

“With Canara Banks’ RuPay Credit Card going live on UPI, customers will have more flexibility and choice in making payments across merchant outlets, without the need to carry their card,” said Asbe.
