In yet another incident that proves our personal information is no more ‘personal,’ an ex-Yahoo techie has been accused of accessing thousands of accounts of the service to obtain nude pictures of women.
As per the information by the US Attorney’s Office, Reyes Daniel Ruiz, who used to work as a programmer at Yahoo, violated the security laws to breach into as many as 6,000 accounts. He reportedly tried to search for nude pictures and videos of some of his friends and co-workers.
Moreover, Ruiz further went on to obtain information from email messages and hack more accounts associated with the service. This combined social media and cloud services starting from Facebook and Gmail to iCloud and Dropbox.
Ruiz has been charged with one count of computer intrusion and one of intercepting wire communication. He now faces imprisonment of a maximum of five years and a fine of up to $250,000.
