India Records ‘Highest’ Coronavirus Cases In A Day, Takes Count To ‘271’

With ‘coronavirus’ spreading thick and fast in the country Friday saw the maximum number of cases in a day. 63 cases were recorded on Friday. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) put the total number to 236 after addition of 63 cases.

However, the Union health ministry said that the total number of cases are ‘223’. The latest count, however, shows the number is 271. Shutdowns have been announced in certain cities of Maharashtra namely Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and Nagpur till the end of the month. Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in India with 52 cases. 23 people have so far recovered from Coronavirus.

Lockdowns have also been organized in other cities across India like Delhi were only essential stores are open. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already called for a lockdown on Sunday (22nd March) in face of ‘Janta Curfew‘. The global toll of the affected is closing in on 3 lakhs with over 10, 000 deaths.
