On the occasion of World Heritage Day celebrated every year on 18 April, the Archaeological Survey Of India (ASI) lit up various monuments across India with messages projecting India’s fight against coronavirus.
Monuments like the Red Fort, Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi, the Metcalfe Hall, Currency Building in Kolkata and the Cooch Behar Palace Museum in West Bengal were illuminated to mark the World Heritage Day.
Later, ASI also shared pictures of these monuments lit up in their full glory. Have a look:
UNESCO World Heritage Site Qutub Minar in Delhi was lit up with the message: stay home, stay safe.
41 candles were it up at Humayun’s Tomb to represent the 41-day lockdown period in the country.
A small clip of Red Fort all lit up was also shared by the ASI.

Besides monuments in Delhi, Kolkata also saw the lighting up of some of its iconic monuments.
The Metcalfe Hall at the junction of Strand Road and Hare Street, the Currency Building, founded in 1833, and the Cooch Behar Palace Museum were illuminated by Kolkata ASI.
Switzerland Express Solidarily With India
Also, a more than 1,000-metre high Indian tricolor was projected onto Switzerland’s famous Matterhorn mountain in the Swiss Alps “to express Solidarity to all Indians in the fight against COVID-19”
