Instagram, Facebook, Twitter Blocks Trump After Supporters Storm US Capitol, 4 Dead

US Capitol on Wednesday was stormed by a mob which American media quotes was inundated by people angry over Donald Trump’s election defeat. The chaos happened as Congress was meeting to vote and affirm Joe Biden’s presidential win. US President Donald Trump, ever since he had lost the US election held in December, has denied conceding.

The distressful scenes from Washington DC resulted in the killing of four and plaguing the idea of democracy that the USA has set for the world out there. A state of emergency has been declared in Washington DC for 15 days in an attempt to peacefully transfer the power to Joe Biden on January 20.

Meanwhile, the mob, possibly supported by outgoing President Donald Trump, has been demanding to overturn Trump’s loss to Democrat Joe Biden. This comes amidst the Republican Party’s calls in the Senate to undo the election outcome.

Also, the sentiments of protestors were fueled by Donald Trump who, hours before the storming of the US Capitol, had addressed his supporters. At the rally, he said, “After this, we’re going to walk down there…we’re going to walk down…to the Capitol.”

Amidst the chaos and Trump’s hand in the foul play, the social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook have temporarily locked his accounts baring him from reaching out to millions of his followers.

After hours of clashes between the police and the mob, the situation was brought under control and the US Capitol was secured. The Congress, which resumed post the violence rejected a challenge to Arizona’s Electoral College votes for Biden.
