The theme of the 2021 International Women’s Day is “Choose to Challenge”. This theme celebrates and aims to gender inequality and appreciate women’s achievements.

International Women’s Day is honoured in the respect of women and their achievements in the field of ethnic, national, economic, political, or cultural. With time and again, women have shown their importance by excelling in every field. Women have not only marked their feet in the economic or political, but also in the field of entertainment, sports, and other areas.

Why International Women’s Day is celebrated?

This Day stems from a workers’ movement. This day was first emerged in the 20th century in Europe and North America, when 15,000 women marched in New York City in 1908, demanding fewer hours in the job. Additionally, they also demanded that they must get a better salary and the right to vote. A year later, the Socialist Party of America declared this day as the first National Women’s Day. In the year 2015, countries adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
