ISRO Announces Date Of Its First Launch Of The Year

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Monday made official the date of its first launch of the year. The space agency took to Twitter to make an announcement for the launch date.

ISRO’s first launch of 2020 would be GSAT-30 which is a communication satellite. The GSAT 30 onboard of Ariane-5 launch vehicle would be launched from Kourou launch base in French Guiana.

The launch is scheduled at 0235 Hrs of January 17, 2020, as per Indian Standard-Time (IST). Weighing 3357 kg, GSAT-30 is to serve as a replacement to INSAT-4A spacecraft services with enhanced coverage.

INSAT-4A  satellite provides Indian mainland and islands coverage in Ku-band and extended coverage in C-band covering Gulf countries, a large number of Asian countries and Australia at present.
