As the year 2019 ends in few hours, the start of the new decade would begin. In the first year of this new decade, sports fans would be waiting to see some of the most awaited events in various games that are lined up this year.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup
The first of the major sporting tournament of the year 2020 would be the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia. This would be the 2nd time the Women’s tournament would be played standalone tournament and not as a parallel to the Men’s one.
The tournament would start on 21st February with the encounter between defending champions and hosts Australia taking on India at the Sydney Showground Stadium. The final would be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on 8th March 2020, (Happens to be International Women’s Day).
UEFA Euro 2020
No need to tell how big is the tournament in the domain of the football. Seen as an equivalent of a “mini world cup” with best of the footballing nations competing for the regional supremacy, the tournament would be a showpiece event before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
This would be the first time since 1976 there would be no qualification as host nation in the tournament as the tournament would be hosted by 12 UEFA countries. The 24 team tournament would start on 12 June 2020 and the final would be played on 12 July 2020.
Summer Olympics And Paralympics
The biggest sporting event on the planet the 32nd Summer Olympics would be held in 2020 in the capital city of Japan Tokyo. With around 206 (expected) participating countries and over 11,000 athletes Tokyo would be hosting the mega event for the 2nd time.
The event would start from 24th July and would go on till the 9th of August 2020. Tokyo would also be hosting another major event in the face of 16th Summer Paralympic Games to be held from 25 August to 6 September 2020.
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup
For cricket fans, 2020 would be a double treat with two T20 World Cups to be played. While the first would end in the 1st quarter of 2020 the Men’s tournament which has more eyeballs waiting eagerly would come in the last quarter of the year.
The tournament would be hosted by Australia and would be the first in four years (usually held every 2 years) after the 2016 event in India. The tournament would be played from 18 October to 15th November with the final to be played at MCG.
Asia Cup 2020
While the dates of this biggest regional International Cricket tournament are yet not out the event is expected to be scheduled before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to give the participants a good practice ahead of the global tournament.
The 6 nation T20 format tournament would have to wait till the mid of 2020 for any official announcement as the BCCI has issues with Pakistan holding the tournament.
The big team event of the Golfing world that would see the great legends of the game like Tiger Woods taking the course to display their masterclass would be awaited eagerly by the golf lovers.
The tournament is scheduled to be held in 2020 in the U.S.A from September 25th to September 27th.
