Physical Classes Suspended in Bengaluru Schools for 6-9 Grades Students

The Karnataka government has decided to suspend the physical classes for 6th to 9th standard students in Bengaluru. The decision is made due to the rapid rise in Covid-19 cases. Students of class 6-9 will again move to online classes till further notice. 

The State Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said that “Keeping in view the increasing Covid-19 cases, physical classes for standard six to nine has been stopped with immediate effect till the next order” in his statement.

The decision against their annual exams is still pending. Karnataka reported 4,234 fresh Covid-19 cases yesterday. 

Schools Open for Senior Classes in Bengaluru

The offline classes for students of standard 10, 11, and 12 will remain open because of upcoming board exams. Physical classes will conduct as per the schools’ official schedule. S Suresh Kumar said that the decision taken after a meeting held with the chief minister. The Karnataka Education Minister also said that attendance for class 10 students is not mandatory”. 

Till now, the announcement is made only for the Bengaluru schools. No decision is made as of now for the remaining schools in the state. Previously, the Karnataka government had permitted schools to resume from January 1 for students of class 6 and above.
