In a fun encounter at the IPL 2021 auction on Thursday, Kings XI Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta let out a scream after her team bought uncapped all-rounder Shahrukh Khan for Rs 5.25 crore.
The bidding for Khan started at Rs 20 lakh and once Shahrukh Khan was in Punjab’s kitty, an excited Preity turned to the Kolkata Knight Riders’ table and screamed “We got Shahrukh”.
Meanwhile, Shahrukh Khan is a 25-year-old big-hitting middle-order batsman who is quick to get the 30s and 40s that are so important in T20. He made his debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2018 and was noticed by the selectors for his hitting skills. He in Ali Trophy plays for Tamil Nadu premier league and is named after Bollywood superstar and KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan.
As the fun interaction happened on the auction floor, it surely didn’t go unnoticed. IPL’s official Twitter handle tweeted Zinta’s reaction on their page with the caption, “When you get a certain ‘Shahrukh Khan’ in your side”.
In another heartwarming instance, the teams present for the auction lauded Chennai Super Kings after the management bought Cheteshwar Pujara.
For the unaware, Pujara, before the beginning of the IPL auticon 2021, had shared his wish to play in IPL 2021. He usually goes unsold as he is believed to be a Test player and not a T20 player.
