Rohit Sharma Ruled Out Of ODIs And Tests Against New Zealand

In what can be said as a big blow to team India, ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma is ruled out of Tests and ODIs against New Zealand. Rohit who sealed the T20 series for India by hitting two sixes in two balls during the super over in 3rd T20I is out because of a calf injury.

India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit was in good nick in the tour. He scored a brilliant 60 off 41 in the 5th T20I yesterday before being retired hurt. Rohit pulled his calf muscle while going for a quick single during the fifth T20I.

Rohit’s ruling out comes at a time when India is to kick start the One Day Series against New Zealand in 2 days’ time. With the ODI series to begin on 5th February Mayank Agarwal is likely to be the reserve opener in the ODI format. Young star Shubman Gill, who scored a double hundred in the ongoing A series Tests against New Zealand A, is also back in the mix.

As far as replacement for tests are concerned tests, the experienced KL Rahul could well be back donning the Indian whites. Gill and Prithvi Shaw are likely to fight for the reserve opener’s slot. The 2 match test series would begin on 20th February.
