Unlock 2.0: Government Issues New Guidelines, Here Is All You Need To Know

With COVID-19 cases crossing the 5.5 lakh mark and death rate closing in on 17,000 the guidelines for Unlock 2 came yesterday evening. With nothing new prima facie the Unlock 2 would keep most of the restrictions as it is till the 31st of July. Unlock 2 which would come in effect from 1st July would be there till the 31st of July.

Containment zones would once again be put under maximum restrictions with only essential activities permitted. Here is what is allowed (outside containment zones) and what is still under not going to open under the Unlock 2 phase:

Things not allowed:

  • Metro Rail service
  • Educational institutions like Schools, Colleges, etc
  • Operation of Cinema halls
  • Gymnasiums
  • Swimming pools
  • Entertainment parks
  • Theatres
  • Bars
  • Auditoriums
  • Assembly halls
  • Social, political, sports, entertainment,  academic,  cultural and religious functions, and other large congregations

Things allowed:

While what was allowed in unlock 1 would remain to be opened in Unlock 2. However, the timing of night curfew is reduced to 10:00 PM to 5: 00 AM. Further states would continue to have more say in deciding the district wise curfew, containment zone mapping, and lockdown and unlock dates. Training institutions of the Central and State Governments will also be allowed to function with effect from the 15th of July.

Railways would not be resuming its normal operations neither would International flights. The government says decisions on these would be taken later on the assessment of the situation. Domestic air travel and special trains however would keep on operating like unlock 1.
