Unlock 5: Cinemas, Schools Set To Re-Open In The New Normal

Trying to ease restrictions on people, businesses and institutions, the government of India has issued guidelines for Unlock 5 allowing cinema halls, schools and colleges to re-open. As per the guidelines, schools, colleges, cinema halls, multiplexes and exhibition halls will now be allowed to open from October 15.

Meanwhile, restrictions on international flights have been extended till October 1 and lockdown in Maharastra has also been extended till October 31.

Cinema halls, theaters and multiplexes, however, can only entertain 50% of the seating capacity. Lockdown will be strictly enforced in containment zones till October 31, the government said in its guidelines.

The Centre, however, said attendance must not be enforced on students and must entirely depend on parental consent. Students can only attend school with the written consent of parents, the government said.

In recent days, the coronavirus cases in the country have plunged after touching the 10 lakh mark recently to 9,40,441 cases as of October 1, 2020. Maharastra continues to be the most affected state.

ICMR, meanwhile has said that people can expect a vacancy in the first quarter of 2021. Until then, they must practice precautions. India, which trails the US in the list of nations hit worst by coronavirus, has been recording the world’s highest daily COVID spike since August 8.
