Bharat Airtel was one of the 5G launching companies that participated in the India Mobile Congress or IMC 2022. The country’s second-largest network services provider guided under the leadership of Sunil Bharti Mittal said, “Airtel is launching 5G in eight cities of the nation on October 1. This was just twice the number of cities that Jio is looking to launch 5G services in. Airtel has taken the lead here, and it seems like the telco has an impressive network as well. We did a live test of Airtel at the ongoing IMC event at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.”
Airtel 5G Live Speed Test Video
For the Airtel 5G live speed test the company used the latest flagship model Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. It is powered by SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4 nm), one of the most advanced CPU chipsets developed by Qualcomm.
They inserted the Airtel sim in S22 ultra and when tested, they recorded the download speed of 1.8 Gbps and upload speed of 130 Mbps.
The 5G speed test was conducted at C band frequency. Moreover, while the test was being performed there were many other devices connected to the same network. Airtel at the 5G booth deployed a total of four cells. So any person with a 5G compatible device and Airtel sim card can connect to this ultra high-speed network installed at the IMC booth of Airtel.
Bharti Airtel has forecasted to launch the Airtel 5G network for retail use by 2023 in major cities of India and had further planned its network’s nationwide expansion by 2024.
But remember that the upload and download speeds may vary with different devices, as each device has its capacity of handling network speed.
Airtel 5G May Not Work On Few Smartphones
Bharti Airtel might launch the 5G services before Diwali in 8 major cities. But some smartphones of Apple, major series of Samsung, a few OnePlus devices, and models of some others may not be able to utilise the Ultra high speed of 5G instantly. These smartphones will require a software upgrade and a few tests before running.
“Currently, 5G will not work on any of the Apple devices and also the vast majority of Samsung’s line-up, except the latter’s models such as the Flip 4, Fold 4, S21 FE, Galaxy S22, S22 Ultra & S22+, and some versions of A and M series,” mentioned times of India quoting its sources.
