To keep people entertained amidst strigent 21-days country-wide lockdown, Doordarshan, like the eldest in the family, is doing all it can. After promising the audience the comeback of its iconic Ramayan series on DD after long 33 years, Doordarshan will now stream two other celebrated shows.
On Friday, Doordarshan announced that Shah Rukh Khan’s 1989 series Circus and Rajit Kapoor starrer Byomkesh Bakshi, which aired in 1993 will make a comeback on DD channel.
“Shekharan is back on DD National! Friends, stay at home and watch your favourite Shah Rukh’s Circus – TV Series (1989) – From March 28 at 8 pm,” DD National tweeted.
The two shows are one of the most loved and popular shows for anyone who has witnessed the 90s kind of entertainment in the country.
As far as Cirus is concerned, the show was directed by Vicky Aziz Mirza and Kundan Shah and also starred Renuka Shahane, Pawan Malhotra and Ashutosh Gowariker, now a director, in a significant role.
Circus ran between 1989 to 1990. It was later again aired in 2017 and 2018 amidst popular demand from the audience.
On the other hand, Byomkesh Bakshi is a popular detective show that ran between 1993 to 1997. It starred KK Raina as the detective’s sidekick Ajit.
The announcement of the two shows come hours after DD announced that Ramayan and Mahabharat will be aired on television again, starting Saturday. The shows will be aired two times a day.
