By now, you must be well aware of the Tanishq controversy that has been doing the rounds in India. Tanishq recently made an ad intended to promote Hindu-Muslim unity by featuring an inter-faith baby shower.
But the same didn’t go well with people. A group of people came forward to criticise Tanishq for promoting love-jihad while others, on the other hand, questioned that why always a Hindu woman is shown married to a Muslim man in all these unity ads and “never-ever” a Muslim woman getting married to a Hindu guy?
Later Tanishq posted an apology for anyone whose sentiments were hurt by the ad.
Meanwhile, while all this continues to happen, another group of people has come forward to share their stories of inter-faith marriages and they, honestly, are too cute to handle.
Among these was actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub’s wife Rasika Agashe, who posted an old picture of her baby shower with elaborate Hindu rituals, much like what was shown in the Tanishq ad.
And the list goes on:
Same here … I was given a mangalsutra and sindoor and toe-rings for my wedding … all Hindu and Muslim festivals celebrated with great unity … unnecessary ruckus by some miscreants— Pooja Khan (@KhanPooja) October 14, 2020
MP Shashi Tharoor also shared an article from the Indian Express where the writer has shared her experience of being raised by inter-faith parents.
What do you think about the whole controversy?
