Currently, there are as many as 1,024 confirmed cases of coronavirus in India out of which 85 have been cured and 27 have been reported dead. The government is taking all the efforts to curb the virus’s spread and one among these efforts is the introduction of Corona Kavach App.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in association with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MHFW) are developing the location-based app to help people get the right information about the virus. The app is currently only available on the Play Store and only in the beta version.

The app uses a person’s location to make them aware of the risk of being exposed to a virus-infected person. As per the ministry, the app will track a user’s location after every 1-hour and will tell them if they are somewhere around the place where the risk of them catching the virus is high.

As you open the app, it will first ask you six important questions that you need to answer correctly. It asks if you have any difficulty in breathing, what your temperature is, if you’ve returned from a foreign country, whether you’re feeling a body ache, if you have a dry cough or sore throat, and if you’ve met anyone from a foreign country.

The app then, based on your answers, assigns you different codes. The Green code is for all fine, Orange is to go see a doctor, Yellow will ask you to Quarantine, and Red signifies that you’re infected.

Once you are assigned a code, anytime you go out a Kavach will be activated. Means, the app will keep a track of anyone else using the app and what their code is. Like if anyone in your vicinity has been assigned a Red code on the app, the Corona Kavach app will alert you to stay away from the person. Smart right?
