Adding to the rumours of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un’s ailing health, a South Korean diplomat has claimed that Kim Jong Un is in a coma and thus his sister, Kim Yo Jong has been given the power to rule the country.
“I assess him to be in a coma, but his life has not ended. A complete succession structure has not been formed, so Kim Yo-jong is being brought to the fore as the vacuum cannot be maintained for a prolonged period,” Chang Song-min – a former aide to South Korea’s late president, Kim Dae-Jung – said in an interview to South Korean media.
Over the past few months, Kim Jong has been in the news for vanishing multiple times — reportedly, for his treatment. There have been speculations that Kim had a surgery that went wrong and ever since, his health has been deteriorating.
In a social media post, Chang Song-min also said that no North Korean leader would give up his/her power unless he was too sick to rule or was removed through a coup.
He also said that all the pictures and videos of Kim that have been released in recent months, to squash the rumors of his bad health, were fake. And the fact that North Korea ensures the suppression of people and press in the country, reports of him being ill would rarely come out in public from a genuine North Korean source.
Dictator Kim was last seen presiding over a Workers’ Party politburo meeting on April 11 before a top security adviser to the South’s President Moon Jae-in, downplayed rumours and said Kim Jong Un was “alive and well.”
The fact that he had shown up ever time after reports of him being dead in the past few months has also insured people to joke about all this. Have a look:
Kim, you there?
