Twitter Schools Union Minister After He Says “Indians Should Boycott Chinese Food”

Indians are riding high on sentiments after Chinese soldiers in the Galway Valley in Eastern Ladakh killed 20 Indian soldiers. Ever since the news broke, people have turned out in numbers to protest against China, its leaders and also Chinese goods with many calling to boycott the same.

And Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, who made the chant ‘Go Corona’ famous have also joined in the protest. However, the statement he gave on boycotting unintentionally sounds more like against India than China.

In a statement to ANI, Ramdas said that restaurants selling Chinese food should be banned, and people should also boycott Chinese food.

Surely, the statement didn’t make any sense as Chinese food is nothing that we import from China. It’s mostly homegrown and just named Chinese because its origin is from China. So, boycotting Chinese food and shutting down restaurants that sell Chinese food is our loss & not China’s.

The statement elicited a wave of responses online, with people pointing out that food shouldn’t have anything to do with the current situation.
