Popular Indian female wrestler Babita Phogat came under the hammer on Thursday after her tweet. The Commonwealth Games gold medalist gave a strong statement against the ‘Jamatis’. Soon, after her tweet #SuspendBabitaPhogat started trending on Twitter.
She tweeted that Coronavirus is 2nd big problem of India, the biggest problem is ignorant Jamatis. Her fellow wrestler Bajrang Punia came in her support when a journalist tweeted that ‘Babita’ got famous as a Muslim made a film on her (a reference to movie Dangal). Her sister wrestler Geeta Phogat also tweeted in her support on Friday.
The #SuspendBabitaPhogat started trolling the demanding suspension of her Twitter account. This came on a day when Twitter suspended the account of Kangana Ranaut’s sister ‘Rangoli Chandel’ for hate speech.

Babita on Friday tweeted a video in which she responded to all the trolls. She also clarified that her tweet was not meant for a particular community. Rather she tweeted about those who are willingly making a mockery of COVID-19 protection measures.
